COMPARACIÓN DE SIETE DISEÑOS DE UNIDADES DE MUESTREO SECUNDARIAS EN INVENTARIOS FORESTALES

The objective of the design of surveys by sampling is to obtain information, for the estimation of one or severa! parameters from the population, in a minimum cost. The cluster sampling, where the sampling unit is a collection or cluster of elements, provides more information by cost unit that those designs in where single units of sampling are used. Although it is certain that the two-stage cluster sampling, is very useful in the regional or national fbrest inventaries, in Mexico exists few studies about the best configuration of the secondary sampling units (UMS) into the primary sampling units (UMP) in termines of greater precision. lt's by this reason that it was considered advisable to compare seven different designs from UMS into circular UMP of one hectare, and thus to be able to determine which design provides more precise estimations. For such effect was generated a theoretical randomly population of trees in Are View 3.1, in an area of 114.6 hectares. When evaluating the number of trees, the basal area and the volume, concluded that the best design, in terms of the smaller relative error of sampling, were the designs five (the UMS in form of a cross) and design two (the UMS in form of horizontal T}, where as the design one (the UMS in form of inverted Y) presented the higher relative error of sampling.
