Seed dispersal by aircrafts, named aerial reforestation, is a sowing method that makes it easier to cover great area in a short time in places difficult to reach. In order to assist the urgent need to revert the deforestation process in Mexico, the National Forest Commission (CONAFOR) started to use such technique at the beginning of this century. In the present study is described the experience with Enterolobium cyclocarpum seeds in a 200 ha land where forest fires occurred during 2006, in the Leona Vicario ejido at Benito Juárez municipio, Quintana Roo State, Mexico. Of the 2000 ha, only 33 were selected in order to assess the number of seeds that came into the ground and of seedlings by surface unit, as well as their initial growth. Rectangular sampling units were used, and systematically displayed. The assessment results showed that the 5,000 ha-1 seeds programmed as sowing density was not accomplished, as only 3915 ha-1 seeds were counted;90 days after seed dispersal, seedling establishment was around 22 percent and seedlings reached an average height of 40cm at three months old.
