Abstract

Four especies of Conophthorus (Coleóptera: Scolytidae) were collected attacking eones ot Pinus spp. at the region of Michoacan narhed as: Sierra Purepecha, being three of them new for the Science: Conophthorus michoacanae Wood n. sp., C. delriomorai Wood n. sp. and C. teocotum Wood n. sp. Ali them were named and will be described by Dr. Stephen L. Wood, and in this article only is mentioned a general description, distribution and hosts for these new Conophthorus species.
lt was studied under field conditions the lite cycle of Conophthorus conicolens Wood, the most important species, according to metodology by Williamson et al. (1966).
Here are included aditional observations on its habits, hosts and distribution on the study area.
