MANEJO DE LOS ABETALES
Abstract
En México las ideas de F. de Liocourt han tenido influencia enorme sobre el desarrollo de nuestra dasonomía, inclusive en el momento actual.
Aparentemente, los conceptos de Liocourt fueron primeramente presentados en México por Arthur H. Meyer durante su presencia en los años 30 's con motivo de sus investigaciones en Puebla y Durango. Desde luego que muchas de las ideas de Liocourt sobre la silvicultura de selección eran de dominio común en Europa y por ello muchos detalles de su planteamiento aparecían en México desde principios de siglo -antes de Meyer-, por la influencia de los pioneros franceses que iniciaron la dasonomía mexicana.
Ha sido posible tener la publicación original de Liocourt gracias al esfuerzo del Dr. El Hassan El Mazzoudi, del Instituto de Investigaciones Forestales de Marruecos, quien tras una búsqueda intensa lo localizó en los archivos muertos de una biblioteca en Bélgica. La dificultad en obtener el material obedece claramente al hecho de haber sido publicado en 1868 en un boletín ya desaparecido de una sociedad regional de forestales (com. personal del bibliotecario), además del hecho de que, fuera de México y de Estados Unidos, el trabajo de F. de Liocourt es poco conocido. Por cierto, el documento citado por Meyer (1) está fechado en 1898.
