Abstract

The principal subjet of this paper was the study of the comportment of the successional dinamic and natural regeneration on the affected zones by the "Gilberto" hurricane and forest tires ocured in years 1988 and 1989.
"Gilberto" hurricane covered approximately l million hectare, that provoqued the fall of trees with surface roots, bark fricction, defoliation and serious dammages on the tree tops as principal.
The tires detected on the north of Quintana Roo and 10 sproutinsgs registered from Cancun to Playa del Carmen affected 127 303 hectare surface.
To evaluate the standars for distribution and natural regeneration, two study centers were settled in Central Vallarta, and also two in zona de Pozos according to the dammage of the vegetation caused by the events.
The permmanent silviculture research locations were settled in 1990, by square sample units of 20 m width and 50 m long ( l 000 m2) and one location by each defined condition as study case.
Inside of each location was introduced a 25 m2 area where were obtained the natural regeneration results, according to the perturbation leve! caused by the events and flora existence in each location.
