Abstract

Through a phytoecological study in sierra del Ajusco, was found a case of branch rust over Pinus montezumae; symptomathologycally it is different from infections occurring in pines, along the Eje Neovolcaruco mountain chain.
Comparisons were made with severa! rust examples and with specialized literature. Key review approached to Peridermium stalactijorme.
Samples were sent to Canada, where they found it was closely associated with Cronartium jilamentosus in its ecidosporic phase, since these structures follow a filamentous pattern and have episporia fully ornamented.
This is considered a unique case, with the risk of dispersal and unknown preceding consequences.
Broader research is needed to determine the alternating host species, one of which might be A/nus joru//ensis spp. joru//ensis.
