Abstract

The relatively low proportion of economically important species in jungles, makes it necessary to implement sorne tasks with the purpose of enhancing it; a feasible alternative to achieve such an objetive are the enriching methods through plantation or direct sowing.
Sorne characteristics and limitations of the various types of enrichment are discussed in this work.

The proposal is also being made of using certain species for this end, briefly indicating the handling practices for each of them and, mainly, their properties and restrictions.
Finally, it is said that enrichment is only a possibility, wich must not be considered as a replacement of natural regeneration, bur rather, be handled as a supplement t!lereof.
