Moisture content is an importan! factor for pollen storage. The moisture content of pollen of Pinus teocote, P. pseudostrohus and A bies religiosa were evaluated after 300 and 375 days of storage in Sealed containers at 4ºC. The moisture content was monitored trough vacuum application (0.1 mm of pressure) at different time intervals (0, 10, 30 and 60 minutes). Pollen of Pinus pseudostrohus showed high values of moisture content, even at the minutes vacuum pressure. causing a reduction of pollen viability. On the other hand Pinus teocote maintained high viability at 6% moisture conteht. This moisture content did not change after 300 days with variation in vacuum pressure period (O. 10 and 30 minutes), besides. there was an increase in pollen viability when moisture content decrease to 5% at 60 minutes vacuum pressure. Ahies religiosa showed significant differences in pallen viability among the different pcriod of vacuum aplication and among pallen moisture content. Moisture contents between 5 and 7% were the most effective for maintaining pollen viability during storage conditions.
