Abstract

This study was carried out aimed at obtaining an equations system to predict individual tree volume outside bark, and both outside and inside total stem volume for pine trees growing at the Unidad de Conservación y Desarrollo Forestal No. 7 (UCODEFO No. 7) "Norogachi-Guachochi", in the Chihuahua region.
Taper equations were developed to estimate outside and inside commercial volume at different stem heights, through the mathematical integration of such equations.
The best model to estímate total tree volume and total bole volume, was the logarithmic combined variable model. The taper equation that better fitted the data, was the "Cielito1" model.
The achieved results permit to reach the conclusion that there is a high degree of association between diameter at breast height (dbh and top end) and height (top end and totnl) with tree volume. For this reason they can be used to integrate an equations system to predict more accurately the estimated volumes.
