CARACTERIZACIÓN MORFOLÓGICA DE PLÁNTULAS DE Pinus greggii Engelm EN DOS SISTEMAS DE PRODUCCIÓN EN VIVERO
Keywords:
Pmus greggii Engelm, morphological variability, production systems, seedling qualityAbstract
In arder to determine the effect of the production system on the variability of morphological traits in Pinus greggii seedlings, two groups of the same seedlot and age were compared at the "Santa Lucia" forest nursery, Estado de México. One of them was produced in styroblock containers with inert substrate inside a greenhouse, with irrigation and fertilization control (technified system): the other was produced outdoors, in polyethilene bags with forest topsoil as substrate, and wíthout irrigation or fertilization control (traditional system). Both groups had coefficients of variation .above 20 % in most traits evaluated. However, they differed in both mean values and variability of !hose traits. Seedlings produced with the "technified" system had a disproportionate shoot growth as compared to the seedlings in the "traditional" system. At 8.5 months of age, shoot:root ratio of seedlings in the technified system (6.67) was almos! twice as large as in 'the "tradilional" system (3.57) Seedlings in the "technified" system were more homogeneous in height, diameter, and bioniass. but not in the number of branches and root volume, than seedlings in the "traditional" system.
