SIMULACIÓN ESPACIAL DE DISPERSIÓN DEL FUEGO EN FUNCIÓN DE LA CARGA DE COMBUSTIBLE Y PENDIENTE
Keywords:
Pme-oak forest, forest fuel loading, forest fire behavior, spatial model, raster approach, prescribed tiresAbstract
The spatial distribut,on of forest fuels 1s rather discontinuous and h1ghly variable The assumptíon of fuel homogeneIty could underestimate the influence of fuel dIstribution on tire behavIor Therefore, the use of the fuel-model concept Is not allowed when the surtace of a forest tire Is small (5-20 ha). which is the s1tuatIon of most of prescrided fires In Mex1co As an alternat1ve. tematIc maps were designed follow1ng the raster approach, even though there is not a spatial model that works with thIs source of informat1on In Mex1co Thus. the objectIve of this study was to develop a spatial model In arder to s,mulate spatial changes 1n fire rate of spread due to vanattons in one hour fuel load1ngs and slope The study area Is located within a coniferous-oak forest of the Sierra Madre Occidental at the northwest of Chihuahua State, MexIco. Fire rate of spread Is s1mulated deterministically The mode1 describes fire rate of spread changes from a initial time to a given elapsed time. which Is based on the rate of spread at a certain oeriod Th1s also helps to have a better understanding of the reasons involved the f1re spread followmg a particular direct,on. The spat1al prec1sIon of th1s k1nd of models Is highly related to the cell sIze and shape Moreover, the matn lImItatIon of the model is that it does not conslder ali the requ1red arguments for a fíre behav1or s1mulation. Theretore, In future stud1es, it Is suggested to Integrate other parameters, such as other fuel types (10h, 100h of lag lime and l1ve fuels), and humIdity of fuels
