ATRIBUTOS ECOLÓGICOS DE LAS COMUNIDADES VEGETALES DEL ORÉGANO (Lippia ber/andieri Schawer) EN MAPIMÍ, DURANG.O, MÉXICO

El orégano (Lippia berlandieri) es una especie nativa de las zonas semiáridas de México, es aprovechada de manera comercial para consumo nacional y de exportación. Conocer los atributos de las comunidades vegetales en las que habita favorece las prácticas de manejo y aprovechamiento sustentable. En el municipio de Mapimí, Dgo. se realizó un muestreo de vegetación a través de un gradiente orográfico estratificado en cuatro sistemas (cimas de sierras, bajadas, lomeríos y valles) para determinar las características ecológicas de las comunidades vegetales del área donde crece la especie. Los resultados muestran que el gradiente orográfico (cima - valle) es un patrón que define la distribución de las especies. En el sistema cimas de sierras, el orégano convive con matorral rosetófilo subinerme, en el que Agave lechuguilla tiene la mayor valor de importancia (70.34). En los sistemas bajadas de sierras y lomeríos se establece una triple asociación entre matorral rosetófilo, matorral micrófilo subinerme y matorral cracicaule. En estos dos sistemas el orégano registra altos valores de importancia (bajadas = 66.86 y lomeríos = 78.80). En los valles crece el matorral micrófilo inerme y subinerme con dominancia de Larrea tridentata; aquí el orégano presenta los valores más bajos (26.76). Esta información es útil para la toma de decisiones en el manejo y aprovechamiento del recurso en la región de estudio.
