Abstract

This work was conducted to determine the___behaivor of the Weibull's, Schumacher's, Gompertz's and logistic mathematical models applied to forest growth, age-height by continuous sigmoidal functions.
The study was conducted in Atenquique, Jalisco on Pinus douglasiana with trees representing all three station's qualities.
With age-height information from trunk analyses, was run a specific program for each model with a Texas Instruments 66 calculator.
Model equation parameters, regression coefficients (r), determination coefficients (R2), variance analysis, and calculated and residual F were derived by using regression analysis. The models used showed good adjustments and high values for r and R2 except for the logistic model, that is not recommend on this kind of relations.
With slight amendments in specific uses, Schumacher's model is the best for station quality rating, while Weibull's and Gompertz's models are outstanding to determine growth. Ali three models were good for reference tables.
