This study is a contribution to the traditional knowledge ofthe wild vegetation utilization by the inhabitants of a rural community of the Distrito Federal, San Lorenzo Acopilco, Cuajimalpa, Mexico.
Fifty useful plants were detected through open surveys, direct information and collection ofbotanical specimens. Medicinal (respiratory and digestive illneses) and food sources were the most common uses of this plants.
Most of the species were growing in sown fields or "ruderales", since undisturbed forest no longer exist.
Older people are the ones who know and continue using the species, although in a decreasing trend.
