Abstract

An experimental trial was carried out during a period of ten months. Twenty growing media and nine fertilization routines were tested so that the best combination to produce seedlings of Pinus durangensis Mtz. could be found.
The experiment was stablished with a bifactorial arrange within a completely randomized desing in Anahuac, state of Chihuahua, Mexico.
The pararneters measured were: seedling germination, height, dry weigth and shoot/root ratio. The combination of the growing media and fertilizer routines caused a highly different seedlings growth between treatments (P<0.05).
Toe best growing media mixtures, by volumen, were: a) 60% grounded pine bark + 20% gerrninaza + 20% vermiculite; b) 50% grounded pine bark + 50% vermiculite; c) 60% grounded pine bark + 40% vermiculite; d) 40% grounded pine bark + 40%germinaza + 20% perlite (carlita); and e) 80% grounded pine bark + 20% perlite.
Ali these growing media were treated with rune fertilizer media were composed by two non comercial formulas, whose total NPK application per plant was as follows: soluble (N 0.25 g + P 0.4 g) and double soluble (N 0.5 g + P 0.44 g + K 0.8 g).
