Abstract

During the 1982-1984 period, information was gathered upon phenological observations, in order to work up a yearly development calender on five Quercus species: Q. resinosa, Q. rugosa, Q. glaucoides, Q. obtusala and Q. crassipes.
The phenological events in vegetative phase, flowering and fructification, were described in relation to climatological elements. The fructification pattems were found to be related to biotic factors such as insects and birds.
The phenological observations were carried out in natural stands divided for better results in five permanent plots in the Uruapan and Paracho regions, Michoacan. The number of acorns was calculated by surface unit ofsoil in every permanent plot, as well as its production in kilograms.
Germination and seedling development were related to the variables time and temperature within greenhouse conditions. Statistical analysis was made for seedling development for each specie.
